About us

Who We Are

The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix was borne out of the coming together of Rotarians of like minds bound by friendship and the desire to impact their immediate community and the world at large.
The dream was hatched on the 2nd of July, 2020 and blossomed to fruition on the 8th of December, 2020. There was a total of 36 persons on the charter list. The period between July 2nd and December 8, 2020 was better described as formative which involved storming, nurturing and build-up. Evidently, it was not an easy period because of the challenges posed by Covid-19 pandemic. One unique characteristic of the formative days was the resilience and strong believe that a unique club was going to come forth. This was part of why at the point of choosing a name, the name “PHOENIX” was overwhelmingly adopted because it depicted the resilience, the never give-up mind-set of those involved in the bud-up process.
Because of the restrictions imposed by the covid-19 pandemic on gathering and meetings, more than 75% of pre-charter meetings held by the Provisional Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix were held on online. This did not deter the charter members and by December 8, Rotary International granted the charter of the RC Port Harcourt Phoenix as self-sponsored. The Club officially meets at Swiss Spirit Hotel, 79 Ken Saro Wiwa Road, Port Harcourt every Thursday by 6pm. Physical fellowships are usually anticipated because everyone looks forward to the fun, education and friendship sessions. At Rotary club of Port Harcourt Phoenix you can truly say – Indeed, Rotary is good.
