DG INSTALLATION

District 9141, Governor installation 2024-2025 was a success.

Rotary Club of Porthacourt Phoenix was fully represented at the installation ceremony.

GALA NIGHT AND FUNDRAISING DINNER

The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix held its Gala Night and Fundraising Dinner on the 6th of July, 2024. It was well attended with varieties of event to honour those that support the work of ROTARY and to raise funds for projects in our community.

FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH

The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix in collaboration with the Port Harcourt Crystal Lions Club and Med Events by Chi had a FREE Medical Outreach at the Oroworukwo Community Town Hall which had the residents in the community and neighbouring communities coming in for medical attention. A lot was achieved in the areas of Maternal and Child Care and Disease Prevention and Treatment. Over 200 people went through the process of evaluating their vital signs, investigative laboratory testing, consultation with the doctors, pharmacy issuing prescribed drugs, health counseling for pregnant mothers and women and talks especially on cervical cancer,optical checkups, issuing prescribed eyeglasses, and all these services were FREE. The testimony from the beneficiaries was a true testament to the impact of the project.

Strategic Planning Retreat

The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix held its STRATEGIC PLANNING RETREAT on the 10th August, 2024 at the Mastou Continental Hotel. Detailed analysis on the position of the Club and the way forward to becoming an effective Club was deeply discussed with contributions from Facilitators, Guest Speakers and members.

Fellowship Games

The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix held it’s GAMES fellowship on the 8th August, 2024. Members and Guests enjoyed some indoor games that FUN.

Market CleanUp

The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix had a Water Sanitation and Hygiene project at the Elekahia Women Market in Elekahia Community in Rivers State. A market cleanup was carried out in cooperation with the market traders and customers. A Water Sanitation and Hygiene talk was given to the market community which delved on the importance of clean drinking water, hand washing, excreta management, solid waste management, wastewater management,  drainage system and the conditions and practices that help maintain health and prevent the spread of diseases.

In order to sustain the clean environment of the market, the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix donated sanitation and cleaning tools to the market community like brooms, rakes with personal protective equipment like gloves and nose masks for their safety.

Rotarian President Ozoya Esezobor and members of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix made Elekahia Women Market community feel the Magic of Rotary.

Membership Development Seminar

Members of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix by it’s President Rtn Ozoya Esezobor, attended the Membership Development Seminar/Public Image Seminar which took place in Warri Delta State on the 30th-31st August, 2024. A lot dealt with by Facilitators. Rotary Brand Compliance, Promoting Our Club As People Of Action, Telling Our Rotary Story, Impacting Our Community, Membership Recruitment, Engagement, Retention and Growth. Fellowship with Guest Speaker

We the Rotary Club of Portharcourt Phoenix had our Fellowship on 5th September 2024. Our Quest Speaker, Karibi T. George. Esq. FNIPR, rpa,CT, AICMC delivered a fantastic lecture on “LEARNING FOR LASTING PEACE”. It was a great learning moment that we all cherished.

August Outdoor Birthday Fellowship

The Outdoor Fellowship of Rotary Club of Portharcourt Phoenix on 29th August, 2024. The District Governor Elect was in our Fellowship. The Birthday Celebrants for August were celebrated as they cut their birthday cake.

Joint Fellowship on Peace

On the 19th of September, 2024, we had a Super fantastic JOINT FELLOWSHIP with the THEME: “Cultivating The Culture of Peace”. It was a great learning opportunity as our Guest Speaker spoke about the importance of Peace and Prevention of Conflicts.

Peace Billboard on International Day Of Peace

In commemoration and promotion of Peace. The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix in conjunction with other Rotary Clubs in District 9141, the Rotary Action Group For Peace Rivers State Chapter, Universal Peace Federation and Rotary Peacebuilder Clubs in Rivers State commissioned a Peace Billboard on the International Day of Peace 2024 with the theme ” Cultivating The Culture Of Peace” on the 21st September, 2024.

The Events of the Second Week of September

Celebrating the day of the Girl Child

In commemoration of the International Day of The Girl Child on 11th October, 2024. The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix in partnership with the Interact Club of Community Secondary School Olanada Rivers State held an advocacy and WASH project in support of the Girl Child. We had Miss Michelle Orisha-Charles a Girl Child advocate and Climate Change activist do a presentation to inspire the students to achieve the vision of their future in line with this year’s theme Girl’s Vision of the Future. Sanitary/Toiletry Bags were distributed to Girl Students to promote and maintain high personal Sanitary and Hygiene level. The school community was deeply appreciative as it was impactful. The Magic of Rotary was felt.

The Events of the Third Week of September

The Annual Quiz Competition for Public Primary Schools in the Old Port Harcourt Township started with screening and testing of pupils participating, motivational talk, appreciating the Girl Child, donation of exercise notebooks and honouring all the Teachers for the wonderful work they do to inspire the pupils to greatness. The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix in partnership with the Old Port Harcourt Association, Port Harcourt Crystal Lions Club, Wilson Bakery and Eve Afrique Magazine made an impact with this program that touches the lives of these future leaders. Rotary Decides!

Today 16th October, 2024 was the second day and GRAND FINALE of the 3rd Annual Quiz Competition for Public Primary Schools in Port Harcourt. After the grueling testing in different subjects, we have a WINNER, the First Baptist School. As the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix, we were deeply honoured to touch and change the lives of these children. The Magic of Rotary keeps getting better.

The ROTARY FAMILY HEALTH DAY

The ROTARY FAMILY HEALTH DAY is here and we are giving FREE Medical services to the community of Rumukrushi. The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix with other Rotary Clubs in Zone 33 and 35 are actively involved as we create the Magic of Rotary.

End Polio Campaign

The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix in partnership with the Interact Club of Community Secondary School Olanada and Early Act Club of Community Primary School Olanada carried out an END POLIO NOW awareness campaign in marking the WORLD POLIO DAY. They made a statement on the urgency to the spread of the virus.

Polio Walk

On the 25th October, 2024. The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix joined other Rotary Clubs in District 9141 in a Walk around the city of Port Harcourt to mark the WORLD POLIO DAY to raise awareness about Polio disease.

Rotary Foundation Month

The month of November is The Rotary Foundation Month. We had Rotarian Izuora OKAFOR, PAG gave us the history of The Rotary Foundation since 1971 giving us the perspective of history. It was quite an educative experience

Membership Orientation Seminar

On the 16th of November, 2024. The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix held a Membership Orientation Seminar with lots of speakers to enlighten prospective, new and old members about Rotary and Membership.We also had Rtn Bola Oyebade PDG D9111 to talk to us about membership.

Micro Credit Scheme for Market Women

The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix instituted a Micro Credit Scheme for the Elekahia Women Market traders to add value to their businesses. Giving them financial education especially bookkeeping and interest free revolving loans.Another Magic of Rotary. Rotary Is Good (RIG).

Annual General Meeting

The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix held it’s Annual General Meeting (Club Assembly) on the 8th of December, 2024 in the residence of Rtn Bright Chikezie. It was an opportunity to review the first half of the Rotary year. The achievements, challenges and opportunities for the Club were discussed. Issues facing the Club were deliberated and members were given opportunity to offer their suggestions on way to move the Club forward towards success and effectiveness.

Rotary Club Assembly

The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix held it’s Club Assembly with District Governor Rtn Chinedu Ikegwani and his team on the 13th of December, 2024. The DG gave a progress report on the Club and interviewed the Club President Rtn Ozoya Esezobor and his members. A satisfactory outcome was the verdict. Later the DG held a joint fellowship with all the Clubs in Zone 33. Our first half of the Rotary year report is commendable. The DG also inducted our two new members, Rtn Gospel Amaechi and Franca Asala.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix sponsored 3 youth to the Rotary Youth Leadership Award(Academy). They are participating fully in the activities at the camp. President Rtn Ozoya Esezobor and Club Youth Service Chair Rtn Maria Amirize were on hand to ensure they were supported.
